Half a Million Signatures Call for Johnny Depp’s Return to Pirates of the Caribbean
Johnny Depp won back the support of his fans after a trial with his ex-wife, and over 500,000 people signed a petition on Change.org advocating for his return as Captain Jack Sparrow in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series, expressing a desire for Disney to reconsider their decision.
Fans are urging Johnny Depp to continue as Captain Jack Sparrow in “Pirates of the Caribbean.” The petition, initiated by Kimberly Giles two years ago with a goal of 500,000 signatures, gained significant traction during the recent public trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.
The petition titled “Justice for Johnny Depp” has surpassed expectations, garnering over 570,000 signatures. Depp’s manager, Jack Whigham, revealed earlier this month that the actor lost $22.5 million after the cancellation of the sixth installment of the franchise due to abuse allegations from Amber Heard.
In 2020, Johnny Depp had to leave his role in the “Fantastic Beasts” prequel series of “Harry Potter” after losing a defamation lawsuit against The Sun, which called him a “wife-beater.” Jack Whigham stressed that Amber Heard’s Washington Post article, where she claimed domestic abuse, had a severe impact on Depp’s career.

Alongside calls for Depp’s return, Jeanne Larson initiated a Change.org petition in 2020 to remove Amber Heard from “Aquaman 2.” As of May 7, the petition has gathered over 3.7 million signatures, surpassing the goal of 3 million.
The ongoing trial between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard continues, with experts suggesting that despite being in a weaker position, the actress still has a chance to win the case. Depp’s defamation claim is unclear as Amber did not mention his name in the 2018 article.
Johnny Depp has succeeded in winning back the love and support of global media and fans, making his overall outcome more favorable. Whether the legal outcome is in his favor or not, Depp gains more than he loses, while Amber Heard faces a negative public perception.
