Will Smith Celebrates Mom Caroline’s 87th Birthday
Will Smith celebrated his mother Caroline Bright’s birthday by sharing a throwback photo of them laughing together on a couch.
“Happy Bday, Mom-Mom! 87 today,” the actor captioned his Instagram Post “There’s nothing like laughing with your Mother. ❤️”
Caroline, a former Philadelphia school board member, is the mother of Will Smith and his three siblings, Pamela, Harry, and Ellen (twins). She was married to Will’s father, Willard Carroll Smith Sr., until they separated during Will’s teenage years and officially divorced in 2000.
Despite a challenging relationship with Willard Sr., who passed away in 2016, Smith has been sharing heartfelt tributes to his mother, affectionately known as “Mom-Mom,” on Instagram. In 2022, he posted a sweet video of them dancing to Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody.”
On her 85th birthday, Will Smith shared a video on Instagram, captioning it with “85 Today! Happy Bday, Mom-Mom.” The video featured them holding hands, singing together, swaying, snapping fingers, and included a smooth spin by Caroline Bright, creating a special moment. Will expressed the wish to dance their way to 100 in his caption.

In his 2021 memoir, “Will,” the King Richard actor extensively wrote about his parents’ troubled relationship and its impact on his childhood. At the age of 9, he witnessed his father physically harm his mother, an experience that profoundly influenced his perspective on life and career. Will expressed regret for not intervening that day, stating that his subsequent achievements served as subtle apologies to his mother for his inaction.
In another part of the book, he revealed covering an unpaid $140,000 child support debt owed by his father to Caroline after their 2000 divorce.
