Will Smith Receives Praises for Just Saving His Reputation
After he slapped Chris Rock at the 94th Academy Awards, Will Smith’s reputation suffered, but he might have begun to recover after a special performance on Sunday. The notorious incident happened in 2022 when Smith took offense at a joke made about his alopecia-afflicted wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.
The actor has continued to be talked about and ridiculed since the incident. Following reports of their “separation” a few years prior, Pinkett Smith’s memoir Worthy was published in October, coinciding with the fallout from the slap. This raised concerns about their relationship.
After the wildly successful “50 Years of 50-Hop” tribute at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards in February, Smith’s fortunes appear to be improving, though, following his appearance at “A Grammy Salute to 50 Years of Hip-Hop” with LL Cool J, Queen Latifah, Questlove, and other hip-hop icons.
In addition to his successful Hollywood career, Smith achieved fame as a rapper with hits like “Switch” and “Wild Wild West.” During a Sunday performance, he showcased some of his most popular songs, earning praise online.
“Oh yes, there’s our multi-hyphenate and beloved cultural icon Will Smith back on the stage of a major TV network a year later. You can’t cancel immortal, generational & redemptive talent, folks,” one person posted on X,

“Look at Will Smith at the #GRAMMYSaluteHipHop50. You just can’t cancel a legend. Cheers and Happy Holidays, Will,” wrote another.
“Watching DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince on #50yearsofHipHop and if Will Smith needs to rehabilitate his rep, he and Jazz should go on tour. This is great,” a third person posted on the social media platform.
A fourth added: “Will Smith having this moment is absolutely perfect. A legend. A talent. An artist. #GRAMMYSaluteHipHop50.”
“This is the happiest I’ve seen Will Smith in the last 10 years. It’s like he came home,” said another.
Smith joined forces with DJ Jazzy Jeff, reuniting the hip-hop duo known as DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince, to perform a medley of their solo and collaborative hits.
