8-year-old’s mother forgives driver accused of hitting, killing her
The mother of an 8-year-old Georgia girl killed while boarding her school bus expresses forgiveness for the accused driver. During 25-year-old Kaylee Andre’s initial court appearance, the courtroom was packed. She’s charged with hitting 8-year-old Adalynn Pierce while she was crossing a Henry County road to board her school bus Thursday morning.
Adalynn passed away at the hospital days later. Authorities state the school bus had its stop sign out and flashing red lights on during the incident.
According to warrants, when questioned by police, Andre explained, “When I got in my car, my windows were fogged up, and I couldn’t see. I didn’t see the school bus, flashing lights nor the little girl.”

During Monday’s hearing, a representative spoke for Adalynn’s mother, expressing her desire to forgive Andre. The representative read a statement indicating that the mother believes her daughter would have forgiven the driver and considered it an accident. A judge granted Andre a $20,000 bond and imposed driving restrictions, permitting her to only travel to essential destinations such as work and medical appointments.
Andre faces charges of first-degree homicide by vehicle, failure to stop for a school bus loading and unloading, and failure to exercise due care.
