Winsome Sinclair, Casting Director and Frequent Spike Lee Collaborator, Passes Away at 58

Winsome Sinclair, a celebrated casting director and longtime collaborator of Spike Lee, has died at 58 after a courageous battle with colon cancer. Her passing was announced by producer and publicist Cassandra Butcher on Instagram.

Butcher remembered Sinclair as a bright light who “brought light to everyone she encountered” and had a unique gift for seeing potential in others. “A true fan of life and culture, her passion for the arts and her deep love for family and community will continue to inspire those who know her,” Butcher wrote.

Sinclair’s impact on the film industry was profound, with a career spanning over three decades. She worked on numerous iconic films, including “Malcolm X,” “Crooklyn,” and “Inside Man,” and was known for her exceptional talent in casting extras and local actors.

Her legacy will live on through the countless stories she helped bring to life and the lives she touched. Sinclair is survived by her two adopted children, parents, and extended family. A GoFundMe page has been set up to support her loved ones.
