According to reports from France, Manchester United are on the verge of finalizing their first signing for the upcoming summer transfer window. In their quest to bolster their defensive lineup alongside Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane, United has set their sights on securing a new center-back.
L’Equipe, has revealed that United is in advanced negotiations to acquire Monaco’s talented player, Axel Disasi, who had previously garnered interest from clubs such as Chelsea and Bayern Munich.
The potential move has taken many by surprise, as it seemed to materialize unexpectedly. Sources indicate that United has no qualms about meeting Monaco’s asking price, which is believed to be approximately £44 million.

Disasi has accumulated valuable experience during his tenure at Monaco, featuring in 129 matches and displaying versatility by excelling in both central defense and right-back positions.
Additionally, the 25-year-old has represented his country, France, on three occasions and was a member of the national team’s World Cup squad that narrowly lost to Argentina in the final back in December.
Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, is resolute in his pursuit of reinforcing the team’s defensive choices, especially considering the potential departure of club captain Harry Maguire. Maguire, who arrived at Old Trafford from Leicester City for a record-breaking fee of £85 million in 2019, has faced significant scrutiny due to his well-publicized struggles with form.
In recent days, there have been strong speculations linking Maguire with a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
As a result, United is actively exploring alternative options to fortify their defense. One such candidate is Kim Min-jae, a center-back from Napoli, who has caught the attention of the Premier League giants. Acquiring Kim would require triggering his release clause, which stands at £43 million.
