Police Public Information Officer Sgt. Louis Brownlee told the Memphis Commercial Appeal that at the time, it was unclear whether the attacker and the victim had any past ties, how many shots were fired, or how many bullets struck the victim.
Sgt. Brownlee added that it was still unclear how the gun was able to enter the FedExForum given that all guests attending events there must go through a metal detector.
Witnesses said that some concertgoers in the audience ran to the ground for safety as soon as they heard gunfire.
