Anthony Anderson Explains His Decision to Host Jamie Foxx’s Show
“Fox’s We Are Family,” a unique musical game show hosted by comedian Anthony Anderson, was originally supposed to feature Jamie Foxx and his daughter.
Contestants in this new show try to identify a celebrity based on their duet with a family member who is not well-known. At first, it was anticipated that Foxx, an executive producer, and his daughter would host, following the style of the Fox series “Beat Shazam.”
Nevertheless, Jamie Foxx’s health problems prevented him from working or being in the spotlight for the majority of 2023. Support came from his family and close friends during this period. Foxx’s pals Nick Cannon and Anthony Anderson were also willing to provide a hand in his TV endeavors.
The first episode of Fox’s brand-new game show “We Are Family” debuted last week. In this concept, a hundred contestants attempt to guess the celebrity that the unknown performance is associated to. Alongside his amusing mother, Doris Bowman, Anthony Anderson, who was most recently seen on Fox’s “The Masked Singer,” is hosting the program.
Similar to “Masked Singer,” competitors guess the identities of anonymous celebrities with the use of clues, with a $150,000 reward up for grabs. Due to health concerns, Anthony Anderson and his mother took over as hosts in November 2023, replacing Jamie Foxx and his daughter, who had been the original order in February 2023. In an interview with ET, Anderson said he intervened to support a buddy and “keep this dream alive.”

“Jamie’s been a friend for years. I’m a fan of my friend. And you have to be able to step in. You know he’s an executive producer on the show. And so, to be able to step in and keep this dream alive for him, for the network and whatnot, was a good thing to do,
During Jamie Foxx’s health crisis, Nick Cannon took over as presenter of the game show “Beat Shazam,” with Kelly Osbourne covering for Foxx’s daughter Corinne. Now presenting “We Are Family,” Anthony Anderson teased ET that he hopes Foxx and Corrine won’t try to take over the show from him and his mother, alluding to the strong influence of his mother.
Anderson and his mother have already worked together on television; in “Trippin With Anthony Anderson and Mama Doris,” on E!, they discuss other cultures and their mother-son bond in England, France, and Italy. Regarding Jamie Foxx, he has returned to the public spotlight following a health scare last year, but details about his upcoming TV and film ventures are still unknown.
