Despite West and Kardashian’s insistence that Swift approved the line, Swifties later discovered an edited video of a phone call between the artists, which showed Swift being informed about a different lyric than the one in question.

In December 2023, Swift described the incident as a “fully manufactured frame job” during an interview with Time magazine, recalling it as “an illegally recorded phone call, which Kim Kardashian edited and then put out to say to everyone that I was a liar” in her 2023 Person of the Year feature. Swift expressed how the ordeal affected her psychologically, leading her to isolate herself and struggle with trust issues. She publicly reemerged in 2017 with her album Reputation, featuring the fiery single “Look What You Made Me Do,” seemingly addressing the fallout with West.
Earlier this month, West mentioned Swift again in a song called “Carnival,” where he also name-dropped other celebrities like Elon Musk, and R. Kelly. In the track, West raps, “I made six Taylor Swifts / Since I had the Rollie on my wrist.”
Despite the song’s release, Swift’s focus at the Super Bowl seemed to be on her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, as they celebrated the Kansas City Chiefs’ victory. Swift later joined Kelce on the field, and the couple continued their celebrations in Las Vegas, singing along to Swift’s songs in a club, spending time with Swift’s parents, and enjoying a late-night meal of chicken finger to end the night.
