Jada Pinkett-Smith Exposes Chris Rock
Jada Pinkett-Smith has shared everything in her new book, “Worthy,” including the time when Chris Rock asked her out, thinking she and Will Smith were getting divorced. In the memoir, she talks about her marriage with Will, the Oscar slap incident, and how Chris Rock apologized after realizing the divorce rumors were false.
“I think every summer all the reports would come out that me and Will were getting a divorce,” she said. “And this particular summer, Chris, he thought that we were getting a divorce. So he called me and basically he was like, ‘I’d love to take you out.’ And I was like, ‘What do you mean?’ He was like, ‘Well, aren’t you and Will getting a divorce?’ I was like, ‘No. Chris, those are just rumors.’ He was appalled.”
“And he profusely apologized and that was that.”

Though it’s unclear if Will Smith responded at the time, their stories collided at the 2022 Oscars when Will surprised everyone by slapping Chris Rock following the comedian’s joke. After apologizing, Will was barred from the Oscars for ten years. Before realizing that the slap was serious, Jada Pinkett-Smith laughed it off.
When Jada Pinkett-Smith revealed in her Today interview that she and Will Smith had not been together since 2016, including the time of the Oscar slap incident, it shocked everyone.
Although they are not legally divorced, Jada acknowledged that she has found it difficult to accept this, having promised to keep their marriage intact and to work things out with Will.
