Will Smith’s $1.4 Million Loan to Duane Saved Him From a Nightmare Legal Trouble
It was on the set of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air that Will Smith and Duane Martin first got to know one another in 1993. Over the years, they have managed to stay close friends in spite of allegations of a secret romance. Both Smith and Martin married, Smith to Jada Pinkett Smith and Martin to Tisha Campbell, which caused the accusations to fade.
According to theblast, the Independence Day star and his spouse were instrumental in saving Duane Martin’s house by providing him with a $1.4 million loan. Martin’s bankruptcy trustee accused him of concealing the ownership of his mansion under a business named Roxe LLC, which sparked the dispute.
In the end, a deal was struck that let Duane Martin to reclaim his estate under his business name. Martin played Steven Lewis in the revival of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, when Will Smith returned as the Executive Producer. However, once Brother Bilaal made some contentious remarks, their friendship grabbed news once more.

Following their marriage, rumors regarding Will Smith and Duane Martin subsided, but they reappeared following Martin’s divorce. Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith’s marriage has been plagued by scandals for some time now. On The Today Show, Jada Pinkett Smith responded to host Hoda Kotb by addressing the rumors.
Hoda Kotb- “You and Will probably have more rumors about you and talk about you than others. They’re in an open marriage, they’re swingers, he’s gay, she’s gay. I mean a million things were out there. What, if anything, is true and did hearing all that stuff bother you?”
Jada Pinkett Smith- “No. You know, that’s part of it. I would say that none of that’s true. I definitely can understand why there’d be misunderstandings, but none of it’s true”.
