Tyler Perry Says He was Meghan Markle’s ‘Therapist’ After She Left Royal Family
Speaking about his relationship with the royal family, Tyler Perry disclosed that he helped Meghan Markle adjust to life in the United States after she and Prince Harry moved here.
Tyler talked about how he assisted the couple upon their arrival in California in 2020 following their departure from the UK royal family in a recent podcast interview with Kelly Ripa.
Even though Tyler didn’t know Harry and Meghan at the time, he could tell that the Duchess of Sussex was feeling overtaken by life in the royal family. He contacted Meghan through a publicist, thinking that she was alone and under constant scrutiny—despite the rumor that Oprah Winfrey had arranged the introduction.
Tyler mentioned, “I sent them a note… and just said, ‘If you ever need anything, I’m here.’ She called months later, and we had a great conversation, talking like I was a therapist.”
He emphasized the importance of having a safe and unbiased place in the entertainment industry where people can freely talk and seek advice without hidden motives.

“It’s very important for people in this business to have a safe place to land, to have a place where they can trust and talk freely and get advice that’s not going to be biased or from somebody who wants something from them.”
Tyler revealed that Harry and Meghan stayed at his Beverly Hills mansion in secret for weeks, enjoying a peaceful time away from the public eye. During their stay, they were happy, and Tyler described it as a beautiful moment.
