Tupac Shakur’s Sister reveals How Rapper’s Bond With Jada Pinkett Smith Changed Him
Sekyiwa Shakur, the late rapper Tupac Shakur’s sister, says that Jada Pinkett Smith loved him back in a recently published biography about him. Sekyiwa recounts an instance in which Tupac talked about Jada when he and his friend John Cole got home.
“All I remember is John coming over to the house all the time. And nothing else could be talked about but Jada,” said Sekyiwa.
“His music changed. This people changed. And Jada came — the entity! The magazine posters had come off his wall and John’s art went up on his wall. And pictures of Jada,” Sekyiwa added.
In a previous interview, Pinkett Smith discussed her encounter with Tupac during their high school years at Baltimore School for the Arts, as mentioned in the book.
“We hit it off from that moment on,” she said, noting they bonded over their mothers’ issues with substance abuse and financial setbacks and believed they were going to be “lifelong friends.” (Pinkett Smith had already informed The Messenger that she was not consulted for the biography).
