Teyana Taylor Accuses Iman Shumpert of Smoking Weed Around Their Daughters
Teyana Taylor questioned former husband Iman Shumpert’s parenting in recently discovered court records. She made a number of accusations, including that he was intoxicated when taking care of their two girls.
Teyana Taylor accused Iman Shumpert of consuming marijuana around their girls and being under the influence while caring for them. She also claimed he forgot to feed the children while they were at home, and she described an event in which he reportedly put them in a rideshare to the United Center while he went alone with a private chauffeur.
Taylor said that Shumpert frequently ignored the safety of their minor children. The couple, who had been married for seven years, quietly filed for divorce in January 2023, after Taylor revealed their separation in September and confirmed the petition in November.
The statement, in full, reads ‘I mind my business, don’t bother nobody & y’all know I’ve never played about my children, family & our privacy. I have not spoken on this private matter to any media outlets or blogs etc.
‘So everyone claiming ‘Teyana said’ didn’t get any statements directly from ME. These statements were taken from private court documents that were leaked to the public. It is very heartbreaking that someone would take out the time to make such a private matter public for the world to see.
‘However, protecting my family is one thing I’ve ALWAYS done & for my children I will continue to do so. Please if y’all love y’all play nieces Junie & Rue like y’all have shown, please allow my self & my family some privacy to resolve this matter in peace, Love y’all.’
Iman Shumpert’s insecurities regarding their level of popularity and whether or not Teyana Taylor was “good enough” for him were cited as the reason for their September split in court records. Taylor repeatedly argued with Shumpert via text messages, claiming that she was treated cruelly, exhibited extreme narcissistic behavior, and was becoming resentful of her popularity.

Because she was under mental stress, she withdrew her divorce filing the following day in 2022. Yet by 2023, she made the decision to move through with the divorce, citing the emotional toll of the destructive cycle and the failing relationship.
After seven years of marriage, Teyana Taylor confirmed her split from Iman Shumpert. She first denied adultery was the reason, but then acknowledged it in divorce court documents. The attorney for Shumpert expressed optimism for a just settlement that prioritizes the welfare of the kids.
In April, Taylor denied reports that Shumpert’s supposed infidelity was the reason for a heroin overdose. The 2011-married couple were romantically linked in 2014, got engaged in 2015, welcomed their daughter Junie the same year, and spoke their vows towards the end of 2016.
