R. Kelly’s Daughter Buku Abi Opens Up About Shocking Childhood Sexual Abuse Claims It Led to Multiple Suicide Attempts

R. Kelly‘s daughter, Buku Abi, has made explosive claims of sexual abuse against her father in the new documentary “R. Kelly’s Karma: A Daughter’s Journey.”

Abi, 26, alleges the singer molested her when she was just eight or nine years old. “I really feel like that one-millisecond completely just changed my whole life, changed who I was as a person,” she emotionally states in the film.

“I hit a point in my life where multiple times, I had tried to take my own life,” Abi reveals, detailing the devastating impact on her mental health.

Abi claims she first reported the alleged abuse to her mother, Andrea Kelly, at age 10, but police couldn’t prosecute due to delayed reporting.

In the documentary, Abi recounts waking up to her father “touching” her inappropriately. “I didn’t know what to do, so I just kind of laid there and I pretended to be asleep.”

Abi’s mother noticed self-harm scars on her wrists at a Target store, prompting a heartbreaking conversation. “My mom saw that my wrists were all cut up… I broke down, and I had to tell her, ‘I don’t think I’m okay. I don’t think I can do this.'”

R. Kelly denies all allegations through his attorney, Jennifer Bonjean, stating, “Mr. Kelly vehemently denies these allegations… The ‘film makers’ did not reach out to Mr. Kelly or his team to even allow him to deny these hurtful claims.”

Kelly is currently serving 19 years in prison for child pornography and enticement convictions, with eligibility for release in 2045.

“R. Kelly’s Karma: A Daughter’s Journey” is now streaming on TVEI Network.
