Keke Palmer has opened up about her difficult relationship with her ex-partner and child’s father, Darius Jackson.
In a podcast episode that was made available on Tuesday, November 28, Keke Palmer opens up about how her upbringing caused a “rude awakening” when it came to dating. In an interview with her mother and co-host, Sharon Palmer, the media personality disclosed that she had originally thought all men would treat women with respect.
The actress thought about what she had noticed and explained it away by saying that she was raised in a home where her father had always valued and respected her mother, Sharon. The unanticipated misogynistic encounter Keke Palmer had in her relationships caught her off guard. She said, “So misogyny came at me hard and quick, with the quickness.”
“I grew up in a house where my mom would say, ‘This is what it needs to be.’ And [my father] Larry would be like, ‘OK, Sharon. Go on ahead, Sharon’”.

“So, for me, when I entered outside of my household and I saw that everybody doesn’t really respect their wives or even women in the way that my dad respects my mom, it [was] a pretty rude awakening”.
Keke talked about her experience of not feeling seen or valued when she was in a “intimate scenario with someone” in the podcast episode. Keke Palmer filed for a temporary restraining order against her ex-boyfriend Darius Jackson earlier this month.
It is claimed that Jackson physically and verbally abused Palmer in front of their 9-month-old son Leodis. Leo was temporarily placed in Keke’s sole physical and legal custody; Jackson was not allowed to visit.
