Jonathan Majors Found Guilty of Assault and Harassment in Trial
Jonathan Majors, the actor, has been found guilty by a New York jury on two misdemeanor charges of assault and harassment against his then-girlfriend in March. The case, which started with Majors’s arrest on March 26, concludes a high-profile legal process. The altercation occurred the night before with his then-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, 30, an actor and dancer.
In court, Jabbari testified that a physical altercation occurred after she discovered romantic texts on Majors’s phone. When she tried to take the phone, Majors twisted her arm, causing severe pain, and struck her in the head. Jabbari also accused Majors of fracturing her middle finger by squeezing it. The surveillance footage presented during the trial showed Majors taking back the phone, exiting the vehicle, and running through lower Manhattan streets while Jabbari pursued him.
Majors faced four misdemeanor charges, including assault and harassment, with a potential year-long prison sentence if convicted on all counts. He was ultimately found guilty of third-degree assault and second-degree harassment. Manhattan’s district attorney, Alvin Bragg, stated that the evidence presented depicted a “cycle of psychological and emotional abuse, and escalating patterns of coercion.”

In contrast, Priya Chaudhry, Majors’ representative, stated on Monday that the jury didn’t believe Jabbari’s story and didn’t think Majors intentionally harmed her. Chaudhry mentioned that Majors still has faith in the legal process and looks forward to fully clearing his name. Despite not believing Jabbari, the jury found Majors reckless while she was attacking him, which disappointed the defense. Majors expressed gratitude for the support from God, family, friends, and fans during the challenging eight months.
In June, Majors filed a countersuit against Jabbari, claiming he was the one assaulted after she saw texts from another woman on his phone, but prosecutors didn’t pursue charges against her.
During the trial, Jabbari detailed their tumultuous relationship, starting when they met in August 2021 on the set of Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. In 2021, Majors allegedly scolded her for mentioning an ex’s dog, and in the summer of 2022, he criticized her via text for attending the Glastonbury music festival. Jabbari testified that Majors, who didn’t testify, would threaten suicide after conflicts, and she described him as excessively controlling and prone to explosive rage that left her physically afraid.
Majors will be sentenced on February 6 and could be in prison for a year due to the assault charge.
