Jada Pinkett Smith, a well-known American actress and talk show host, revealed her decision to stay married to Will Smith despite their lives going different routes since 2016 on a recent episode of the Jay Shetty-hosted podcast On Purpose.

The conversation was started by a heartfelt note Jay Shetty received from Will Smith, in which Will praised Jada’s novel, “Worthy.”

He reflected on how, if he had discovered her writing three decades earlier, he would have embraced her more fervently—a sentiment he is now actively embracing and expressed his tremendous love for it.

He expressed his unending love for her and cordially welcomed her into the prestigious authors’ community. He suggested she enjoy some Merlot and treat herself to some with a humorous tone.

Jada Pinkett Smith couldn’t help but blush when she saw this letter, so she added a little humor to her response. In her words,

“He knows I can’t have no Merlot. That’s beautiful. That’s why I can’t divorce that joker [laughs].”

This admission follows one made by Jada Pinkett Smith not long ago in a sneak peek from her upcoming primetime special with Hoda Kotb on NBC News.

Although they haven’t formally filed for divorce, she frankly said that she and her husband, Will Smith, have been leading essentially independent lives since 2016.
