Former Child Star Evan Ellingson Dies mysteriously.
At the age of 35, Evan Ellingson, a former child star best known for his parts in 24 and CSI: Miami, has passed away. According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, he was found dead at his Fontana home on Sunday around 11:30 a.m.
The cause of death is still unknown despite the results of Monday’s toxicology tests and autopsy. Ellingson was reportedly residing in a sober-living home when he passed away, according to TMZ.
Ellingson gained notoriety in 2009 when he costarred with Cameron Diaz and Abigail Breslin in the film “My Sister’s Keeper”. He portrayed the teenage son of Sara (Diaz), Jesse Fitzgerald, who was the brother of leukemia patient Kate (Sofia Vassilieva) and Anna (Breslin), who was created to give her sister blood and stem cells.
Prior to that, he played the 10-year-old version of the main character in a few episodes of the third season of Christopher Titus’ Fox sitcom “Titus”. In the short-lived ABC comedy “Complete Savages,” he played a rebellious teenager named Kyle. Ellingson’s career was booming in the 2000s, a time when both shows were popular. In “CSI: Miami,” he played Kyle Harmon, the son of David Caruso’s character, Lt. Horatio Caine. This was his last acting role.

Born on July 1, 1988, Evan Ellingson grew up with three brothers in La Verne. In addition to making an appearance on the ABC soap opera “General Hospital” in 2001, he began his acting career with a role in the mystery thriller “Living in Fear”.
He continued to appear in television series after these early parts, including MadTV, Bones, and a brief part as a young marine in Clint Eastwood’s “Letters From Iwo Jima.” Then came a multi-episode role on the television series “24” as Josh Bauer, the nephew of Jack Bauer played by Kiefer Sutherland. He worked on a few more projects before landing his last acting gig in the 2010 season-six finale of CBS’s “CSI: Miami”.
After a 10-year hiatus from acting, Evan Ellingson sought addiction recovery treatment in 2021 at River’s Edge Ranch due to his struggle with heavy drug use that began at 19. He shared his experience in a testimonial published on YouTube, reflecting on how his older brother Austin’s death from a heroin overdose when Evan was 19 had a profound impact on him. He described it as his “rock bottom” and said it pushed him to recognize the importance of people in his life.
The loss of his brother made him realize that there was much more to life, but it also led him down a dark and scary path where things weren’t enjoyable anymore.
