Colman Domingo confirmed to play Joe Jackson in Michael Jackson biopic

Colman Domingo will play Michael Jackson’s father, Joe Jackson, in an upcoming biopic on the King of Pop. In addition, 9-year-old Juliano Krue Valdi and Michael’s nephew Jaafar will play adult and kid versions of Michael, respectively, in the movie.

Colman Domingo said :“It’s exciting to do it with Jaafar. Jermaine Jackson’s son is playing Michael, and he is breathtaking, and I think Graham King, the producer, has assembled an incredible cast.”

“I’m excited to be a part of a film that explores both the complicated soul of the legendary Michael Jackson as well as his impact on music and culture as a global icon. Not only am I fortunate to have a rich, complex and flawed character to portray in Joe Jackson, but I also have a front row seat for Jaafar’s incredible transformation.”

The biopic “Michael,” set for release on April 18, 2025, in the United States, will be distributed theatrically by Lionsgate. Directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by John Logan, the film features a star-studded cast and promises to be a cinematic experience.

In December, it was revealed that audio from Jackson’s first studio session at One-derful studios in Chicago, where he recorded the song ‘Big Boy’ with The Jackson Five at the age of nine, would be released in a limited-edition package.
