Tragedy struck at Church’s Chicken in Orange Mound, Tennessee, where Anitra West, a dedicated employee, was senselessly killed.
A dispute over a food order at the drive-thru sparked a heated argument between West and a customer, Monica Williams, according to the police. The situation escalated, and Williams left the scene. Moments later, a gunshot rang out, and Williams’ car was seen speeding away.
West was found critically injured outside the restaurant and rushed to Regional One Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
Lorenzo West Jr., Anitra’s ex-husband, is struggling to come to terms with her senseless murder. He had recently reached out to Anitra to rekindle their relationship. West Jr. believes the killing was personal and not just about a fast-food order.
“I know Anitra was too important to be killed about some food,” he said. “It wasn’t about no food. It was something somebody took personal, and couldn’t let it go. Once you get past words in Memphis, everybody knows how it turns out.”
Monica Williams, the suspect, is facing a first-degree murder charge and is being held without bond, according to the police.
Grief has settled over the Orange Mound area as residents mourn the sudden passing of Anitra West, a pillar of the local community whose absence is deeply felt.
