Alicia Keys and More to be Honored at Black Theatre United 2024 Gala

Black Theatre United (BTU) has unveiled its 2024 Gala, “Generations of Excellence,” set to take place on September 30 at the Ziegfeld Ballroom.

Renowned conductor Linda Twine, Meta’s Chief Diversity Officer Maxine Williams, and 16-time GRAMMY winner Alicia Keys will be honored.

“Linda, Maxine, and Alicia embody the spirit of excellence and advocacy that BTU strives for,” BTU Founders said.

EXCLUSIVE AUCTIONS

A live auction, led by Patrick Tully, will feature:

– Karaoke night with BTU founders LaChanze, Vanessa Williams, and Norm Lewis
– 2 tickets to the 2025 Super Bowl
– Celebrity private chef experience
– All-inclusive retreat at a private villa in Barbados

A silent auction will include:

– Martha’s Vineyard private home for 5 days
– Dinner for 4 at Chef Preston Clark’s table
– 4 field-side New York Yankees tickets
– 2 tickets to Norm Lewis’ 2024 Christmas Show

The silent auction will be online from September 23 to October 7 via OneCause.

PERFORMANCES AND PRESENTATIONS

Broadway legends André de Shields, Leslie Uggams, and Stephanie Mills will perform alongside newcomers Sydney Terry, Gabrielle Rice, and Darrin Scott.

Special presentations will be made by Whoopi Goldberg, Ariana DeBose, Josh Groban, and others.

GALA LEADERSHIP

Whoopi Goldberg, Ariana DeBose, Josh Groban, Marc Shaiman, Patti LuPone, Richard Jay-Alexander, Spike Lee, and Stephen Schwartz will serve as honorary co-chairs.

Dr. Indira Etawroo, Kevin Brown, and Jana Fleischman will be Gala Co-Chairs.

PROCEEDS TO SUPPORT EMPOWERING PROGRAMS

Gala proceeds will support Black Theatre United’s programs, including student internships, BTU Design Initiative, and education programs.
