The record company for K-pop artist Moonbin, a member of the well-known boy band Astro, has confirmed that he died at the age of 25. His manager found him unconscious at his Seoul flat on Wednesday night, according to reports in South Korean media quoting the police.
An autopsy is being performed to determine the precise cause of his death, though authorities believe he committed suicide.
As a young actor and model in the 2000s, Moonbin started his career in show business. He started acting when he was just 11 years old in the well-known Korean drama series Boys Over Flowers.
He joined Astro in 2016 when he was 18 years old, and since then, he has had a prosperous career in K-pop.
According to Rob Schwartz, an Asia correspondent for Billboard Magazine, Moonbin was immensely well-liked in his home country even if he might not have achieved the same degree of global popularity as BTS or Blackpink.

He continued by saying that K-pop stars are under a lot of pressure from both their record companies, who demand hit after hit, and their social media followers, who expect them to look and sound flawless. The K-pop industry has suffered a devastating loss with the passing of Moonbin.
In South Korea, youth suicide rates are highest among developed countries, despite a decrease in overall suicide rates. There have been four suicides in the K-pop industry in recent years, including Goo Hara, Sulli, Minwoo, and Jonghyun. Moonbin, a talented dancer and member of boy band Astro, has been mourned by fans after his death.
