Beloved actor Ron Ely, best known for his iconic role as Tarzan in the 1960s TV series, has died peacefully at his home surrounded by family. He was 86.
Ely’s daughter, Kirsten, announced his passing on September 29th, paying tribute to her father as “one of the greatest men to ever live” and her personal idol. She remembered him for bringing positivity wherever he went and living a life of perseverance.
The actor’s life was marked by triumph and tragedy. Ely’s breakout role as Tarzan (1966-1968) cemented his place in TV history. His extensive credits include Wonder Woman, The Love Boat, and L.A. Law.
Tragedy struck in 2019 when Ely’s son, Cameron, suffering from CTE, stabbed his mother, Valerie, to death. Law enforcement fatally shot Cameron. Ely later sued the sheriff’s department.
Ron Ely is survived by daughters Kirsten and Kaitland. His legacy as a Hollywood legend and devoted family man will be deeply missed.
