Tyrese Says He Wishes He Was Born Latino Sometimes Because They’re Grounded In Family & Loyalty

Actor and singer Tyrese has faced criticism for his thoughts on the values he believes are lacking in the Black community. In an Instagram post, he shared a video of a Latino family’s heartwarming moment, saying, “Sometimes I wish I was born Latino… They’re grounded in family, loyal, entrepreneurs, and women represent the dream.”

He praised the Jewish community for “sticking together” and Muslim families for valuing fathers, contrasting it with what he sees as a decline in Black culture. “We can’t get anything done… insecure, threatened by each other… Competitive towards our own race,” he wrote.

However, his comments were met with backlash. “How about Black adult men start mentoring young Black men properly?” one user commented. Another added, “Not all Black families are messed up! Some of us come from homes with both parents.”

One user even got personal, saying, “Dude, didn’t you create TWO broken homes? Talking about you wish you were Latino because they value family. Do YOU value family?” This refers to Tyrese’s two divorces and claims of unreasonable child support orders.

Tyrese had previously spoken about his dramatic split from ex-wife Samantha Lee and the ensuing legal proceedings, saying, “We never spent $20,000 on my daughter when we were together… What the fuck do you suddenly need that kind of money for?”

His comments have sparked a heated debate about Black culture and values.
