David Tutera’s Husband Files for Divorce
Party planner David Tutera, famous for organizing celebrity weddings, is facing his own divorce as his husband, Joey Toth, filed for it after more than six years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences. Their official separation date is noted as Friday, January 19, according to TMZ.
In his divorce petition, Toth is asking a judge to make Tutera pay him spousal support and ensure he doesn’t have to give any money to Tutera. He also wants the judge to make Tutera cover his attorney fees. This isn’t the first time Toth filed for divorce; he initially did so in 2020 but withdrew the petition before it became official.
Tutera and Toth, who dated for four years, got married in a lavish ceremony in 2017, making history as the first same-sex couple to marry at the Hollywood United Methodist Church.

Following the wedding ceremony, guests went to the luxurious Millennium Biltmore Hotel, which had a ‘1920s, Old Hollywood’ vibe. Tutera, who delivered daughter Cielo with ex-husband Ryan Jurica in 2013, now has a four-year-old daughter named Gracie with Toth. In addition, the surrogate for the former couple gave birth to Jurica’s son, Cedric.
Toth is demanding that the court grant both of them joint legal and physical custody of the girls. Tutera, who has planned events for celebrities such as Jennifer Lopez and Matthew McConaughey, has written seven books and was named the Best Celebrity Wedding Planner by Life & Style Magazine. Tutera is a professional speaker that specializes in weddings, lifestyle, and design.
