Will Smith Returns to Music
Joyner Lucas has been diligently crafting his own LP, but there’s an exciting collaboration in the works with none other than Will Smith.
On Monday, September 25, the Massachusetts native marked The Fresh Prince’s birthday by sharing a special message on Instagram.
He posted a video featuring himself and Smith, immersed in the process of creating a song together, seated before a piano. While the audio details remain undisclosed, it’s clear that Lucas passionately delivers a verse he penned on his phone, seeking feedback and advice from Smith.
In the caption, the accomplished ADHD rapper expresses his deep appreciation for Will and hints at the exciting project they’re currently immersed in.

“Dear hero. I never thought I’d ever meet you,” Lucas wrote. “Still trips me out that I grew up idolizing you, to then me making a record about my admiration and respect for you, to then you asking me to create a whole album with you. 💿 HAPPY BIRTHDAY @willsmith 🎈🍰 Love you til the end of time my dear brother 🙏 💪”
Will Smith’s return to the music scene is a significant event in and of itself after an 18-year absence from album releases.
Fans most recently heard him perform a verse on the official remix of Lucas’ song “Will,” which came out in 2020. Before that, Smith had appearances on Bad Bunny and Nicky Jam’s “Live It Up” and Marc Anthony’s “Esta Rico” in 2018. 2017 saw the release of “Get Lit,” his most recent solo album.
