Britney Spears’ husband Files for Divorce 14 Months After Their Marriage

Late Wednesday, a source familiar with the matter revealed that Sam Asghari, the husband of pop sensation Britney Spears, has initiated divorce proceedings just 14 months following their wedding. T

he individual, who shares a close connection with Asghari but lacks authorization to speak publicly, confirmed that the divorce filing took place on Wednesday. This development followed reports from outlets like TMZ and People magazine earlier in the day, announcing the couple’s separation.

An attempt to contact a representative of Spears did not yield an immediate response. Records from Los Angeles and Ventura counties failed to indicate the specific jurisdiction where the divorce case had been lodged.

The couple’s wedding, celebrated at Spears’ residence in Thousand Oaks, California, on June 9, 2022, was attended by prominent figures such as Selena Gomez, Drew Barrymore, Paris Hilton, and Madonna. The event marked a significant milestone in Spears’ life as she reclaimed her autonomy after the termination of a court conservatorship that had exerted control over her for more than 13 years, a mere six months prior.

Spears and Asghari, a model and actor, first met during the production of her “Slumber Party” music video in 2016, which led to their subsequent romantic involvement. Expressing her wish to marry Asghari, Spears cited this aspiration as a contributing factor to her desire to end the restrictive conservatorship.

The engagement between the two was announced in September 2021, a period that coincided with the impending conclusion of the conservatorship, officially terminated in November of the same year.

Tragically, Spears disclosed the loss of a pregnancy in May 2022, a month prior to their wedding. Reports of difficulties in their relationship had escalated over recent months.

Notably, Asghari, aged 29, is in his first marriage, while the 41-year-old singer’s marriage history includes a brief union with childhood friend Jason Alexander in 2004, as well as a more prominent marriage to dancer Kevin Federline later the same year. Federline, father to her two teenage sons, retained custody after their three-year marriage ended amid heightened media attention and Spears’ growing mental health challenges.

A conservatorship overseen by her father was established in 2008. In its initial stages, Spears functioned well under its guidelines, releasing music, music videos, and performing live, including an extensive concert residency in Las Vegas. However, as her public appearances diminished, a fan-led movement, dubbed #FreeBritney, gained momentum, ultimately culminating in the termination of the conservatorship.

Following the conservatorship’s conclusion, Spears released music, including a collaboration with Elton John in 2022. Nevertheless, she has not taken the stage in years and has yet to announce any plans for future live performances.
