5-year-old Kansas girl raped, murdered after mom kicked her out of the house
“According to reports, a 5-year-old Kansas girl was raped and murdered at a homeless camp in the woods after her mother allegedly kicked her and other family members out of their home.”
According to the Topeka Police Department, Zoey Felix was discovered with life-threatening injuries at a gas station on Monday. She was taken to the hospital and died there.
Mickel W. Cherry, 25, was arrested on Tuesday and charged with murder and rape of a victim under the age of 14, according to local news outlet WBIW.
He was being held on a bond of $2 million.
According to neighbors, the suspect once lived in the same house as Zoey, along with her father and sister.

According to neighbors, Zoey had a turbulent home life and was frequently seen running around unsupervised.
Neighbors said the community pitched in to keep her bathed, clothed, and fed.
They claimed she did not attend school.
In the weeks leading up to her death, Bradley and other neighbors said they made numerous reports to the Kansas Department of Children and Families, citing the deplorable living conditions in Zoey’s home, which lacked running water and was filled with feces.
According to the Capital-Journal, Zoey’s neighbors discovered her absence two or three weeks ago.
When they heard she had been killed, they were devastated.
In March, Zoey’s mother entered a guilty plea to aggravated battery causing bodily harm with a deadly weapon against a child born in 2018, as per the court documents examined by the Capital-Journal.
