Will Smith honored his late friend and co-star Donald Sutherland on social media. He posted two old photos from their 1993 movie “Six Degrees of Separation” on Instagram with a heartfelt message.
Smith remembered their time together with the words “Rest in Peace, Donald.” In the 1993 movie “Six Degrees of Separation,” Will Smith and Donald Sutherland starred alongside Stockard Channing, Ian McKellen, Mary Beth Hurt, and Bruce Davidson.
Smith played Paul, a clever con man who tricked Channing and Sutherland, a wealthy couple, by pretending to be friends with their children.
The movie was adapted from a Broadway play inspired by the true story of David Hampton, a con artist who pretended to be the son of actor Sidney Poitier.

Donald Sutherland had a long and successful career. He played Mr. Bennet in the 2005 adaptation of “Pride and Prejudice” and Hawkeye Pierce in the 1970 classic “MAS*H.”
He also had memorable roles in the 1978 movie “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” and the 1980 movie “Ordinary People.”
Recently, he played President Snow in the popular Hunger Games series with Jennifer Lawrence. His many roles show his great skill and versatility.
