Will Smith is navigating a challenging career resurgence after the 2022 Oscars incident. Sources suggest he’s rebuilding his image without wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s guidance, a departure from their 20-year collaboration.
“It’s a fundamental shift to not involve Jada… He just can’t count on her anymore,” an industry insider told The National Enquirer in the tabloid’s June 24 print edition.
Smith’s priority is to restore his credibility in action movies and comedies, and leverage his social media presence. Insiders caution against expecting frequent joint appearances with Jada, despite their united front at the Bad Boys: Ride or Die premiere.
“They don’t want to divorce, but they’re not a couple… They’ll support each other at premieres, but otherwise, they’re going it alone,” the insider revealed.
This contrasts with Smith’s public declarations of support for Jada, including an emotional speech at her memoir promotion. However, behind the scenes, Smith appears to be distancing himself professionally from Jada’s influence.
The challenge ahead is significant, as Smith works to regain fans’ trust after the Chris Rock incident. “He knows there’s this huge segment of fans who just can’t get over what he did… but he’s ready to get back to work,” the insider said.
