Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith unite in sorrow after losing a beloved family member
Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith experienced a sad beginning to the year with the loss of their beloved four-legged family member, Fang, who passed away on January 23. Jada honored Fang’s memory on Instagram the next day with a series of photos of their pet dog throughout the years.
She wrote: “Last night we lost one of our furry sons Fang. He brought so much love into our family, our animal pack and community. Thank you Fang for 15 years of pure joy. We are going to miss you soooooo much.”
Last year, Jada revealed that she and Will had been living apart since 2016. Speaking on NBC News, she explained, “By the time we got to 2016, we were just exhausted with trying… I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce.”
Despite this, they have continued to make public appearances together and share social media posts. Jada clarified that they haven’t hinted at a split because they are “just not ready yet” and are still figuring out how to present their partnership to the public.
The couple, who are parents to adult children Jaden, 25, and Willow, 23, are also parents to Will’s 31-year-old son, Trey Smith, from his previous marriage with Sheree Zampino. Despite Jada’s disclosure about their marital challenges, she has affirmed that they have no intentions of divorcing, stating during an interview on the Today Show, “We really have been working hard… We are working very hard at bringing our relationship back together.”

She elaborated, “I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce. We will work through whatever. And I just haven’t been able to break that promise.” In another interview with People, she said, “We’re still figuring it out,” adding, “We’ve been doing some really heavy-duty work together.” She emphasized, “We just have a deep love for each other, and we are going to figure out what that looks like for us.”
