Usher, 45, was overcome with emotion at the funeral of his friend and drummer, Aaron Spears, who died in October.
Spears, a long-time collaborator with artists such as Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, and Travis Barker, received tributes from these artists in recognition of their collaborative work.
Aaron Spears was honored at a ceremony in Maryland, where Usher, also known as Usher Raymond IV, spoke passionately about their friendship, describing Spears as a ‘force of nature.’ Overcome with emotion, Usher shared, ‘He was my hero, man,’ and expressed his deep love and admiration for Spears, acknowledging the profound impact he had on his life.
Usher started crying, stopping a few times and putting on dark glasses, but he continued with an emotional speech, saying, ‘Aaron, you were God-sent.’
He advocated for people to cherish their relationships with loved ones while they still have them, stressing the value of showing respect and affection to those who are important to you. The drummer Spears, 47, died in October, but his wife Jessica disclosed that the cause of death was not known.

‘Aaron, you were God-sent, We appreciate having these things. Appreciate the ones you have while you have them. Honour them and let them know how you feel about them.’
Celebrities expressed their condolences in large numbers, and Ariana Grande, known for “Seven Rings,” shared that she felt ‘so incredibly lucky to know Aaron.’
