University of South Florida Men's Basketball Coach Amir Abdur-Rahim Dead At 43

The University of South Florida is mourning the sudden loss of men’s basketball coach Amir Abdur-Rahim, who passed away Thursday after complications from a medical procedure.USF Athletic Director Michael Kelly described Abdur-Rahim as “authentic, driven, and infectious,” leaving a lasting impact on the university, student-athletes, and the community.He was only 43 years old.

In his first season, Abdur-Rahim led the Bulls to a 25-8 record, securing the American Athletic Conference Coach of the Year award. The team won their regular season conference and cracked the top 25 national rankings.With nearly two decades of coaching experience, Abdur-Rahim was renowned for his recruitment prowess, helping land NBA talent Anthony Edwards.

He is survived by his wife, Arianne, and three children. His brother, Shareef Abdur-Rahim, is a former NBA veteran.
