Tory Lanez clashes with Reporter on Way to Prison After Bail Denial

Tory Lanez suffered a blow on Thursday, September 14, when a court denied his bail request, ultimately sending him to prison. Lanez was sentenced to ten years in jail by Judge David Herriford last month for the shooting death of Megan Thee Stallion in 2020.

Despite Lanez’s emotional requests for bail, which would allow him to be with his family while he appealed, Judge Herriford refused. Lanez’s prior felony conviction for a violent offense, track record of violating court orders, and non-native citizenship were all considerations in the judge’s ruling.

After the hearing was over, Tory Lanez reportedly gave a journalist a stern verbal reprimand as he walked out of the courthouse. Following the court sessions, Legal Affairs And Trials writer Meghann Cuniff, who has diligently tracked and reported on this case since its beginning, presented an update.

“I didn’t hear it and I’m still working to see if transcript has it, but I’ve confirmed Tory Lanez chose to use his final courtroom moments to profanely insult me,” she wrote on X

Cuniff alleged Tory Lanez called her “a googly eyed b####” while looking at the gallery. “Conflicting reports on whether he named me. A fitting end,” she added.

Cuniff has earned the nickname “Megan Thee Reporter” due to her meticulous case reporting. Thoughts regarding the journalist’s suspected partiality against their client have been expressed by Lanez’s legal counsel.

Recently, Jose Baez, who did not defend Lanez at the hearing on Thursday owing to a prior engagement, came under fire from Cuniff. She drew attention to the fact that more than two weeks had gone since Baez had made reference to a potential motion for bail, but none had been submitted.

Cuniff questioned Baez’s decision to give Lanez priority, particularly given that he was “posting Instagram stories from Italy” at the time.

Unite The People, a new legal firm well renowned for representing prisoners, was hired by Tory Lanez for the hearing on Thursday. They reaffirmed their intention to lead Lanez’s appeal going ahead.
