Tina Knowles clarifies why Beyoncé can be ‘really mean’ backstage
Ms. Tina Knowles, Beyonce’s mother, discussed what it’s like to see her backstage at concerts. She stated that Beyonce occasionally speaks harshly and can be tough.
Tina Knowles also expressed her happiness at not having to assist with last-minute costume changes and hectic backstage operations now that the Renaissance tour is over. Knowles revealed that Beyonce had recently informed her about her attitude behind the scenes.
“We laughed about this recently because I was saying, ‘Girl, you get really mean back there,’” she told the host, laughing. “And I am really happy that I don’t have to be back there anymore. We’d laugh because she used to perform ‘Flaws and All.’ She would sing, ‘I’m a bi**h in the morning,’ and I’ll be like, ‘And the evening too!’”

Ms. Tina accepts that Beyoncé is aware that she can be tough on her team, but she also observes Beyoncé expressing regret and offering an apology in private. She clarifies that Beyoncé’s strict behavior is a result of the pressure she faces to perform to the best of her abilities.
“She’ll be like, ‘Mama, I’m so sorry,’ and I’m like, ‘I know.’ Sometimes she’ll be crying, and I was like, ‘She crying because she knows she just said some crazy stuff to us. “But that’s the heat of the moment, because you’re trying to get your shoes on, and everybody’s waiting, and if somebody’s messing up or they lose the shoes, then you messed up the whole show,” continued Tina. “So, I understand it.”
From May 10, 2023, to October 1, 2023, Beyonce’s Renaissance tour came to an end. It had the highest earnings in two different months in tour history and is currently the most successful tour by a black artist.
