Teyana Taylor Secretly Filed For Divorce From Iman Shumpert
Taylor filed for divorce in secret nearly a year ago, and she and Iman Shumpert are divorcing. She claims Shumpert has been a narcissistic, jealous person for the entire seven years of their marriage.
The divorce proceedings were started by Taylor in January, more than eight months before they made their separation public, according to court documents that tmz recently obtained.
Even though he made more money from basketball than she did from music, Teyana’s documents, which detail their dissolution, claim that Iman was insecure about not being good enough for her and was jealous of her fame.
Teyana claims that when photographers asked Iman to leave the frame during public events, he would become agitated.
Teyana claims that despite Iman earning $8 million from the New York Knicks and signing a $40 million contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2015, he was still jealous of her acting career, upset about her fame, and insecure about their relationship.
According to TMZ sources with firsthand knowledge, Teyana originally filed for divorce under her initials in order to keep it private.
However, everything came to light when Iman recently filed under his full name. Teyana claims that as a result, Iman started sending her hurtful and deceptive texts, starting arguments without cause—even on her birthday—and then apologizing.
In documents filed in Georgia, Teyana asserts that during the majority of their marriage, Iman humiliated her and acted in an extremely narcissistic manner. She talks about how Iman became angrier about her fame, and she purposefully downplayed her success to keep the peace.

Teyana adds that she declined acting and recording opportunities because Iman didn’t want her to work. Iman, however, took issue with her lack of income when she quit her job after giving birth to one of their children.
Despite Iman’s “extremely emotionally and mentally abusive” behavior, Teyana says she battled to keep their family together. As Iman’s NBA career came to an end, she used her connections to get him Hollywood roles; however, their constant arguments caused her to file for divorce in 2021.
They made up for a little while, but Iman’s insecurities remained as his basketball career faded. Teyana felt tricked and subjugated in 2022, so she filed for divorce but withdrew the following day. She finally filed for divorce in January, claiming she was unable to handle the situation due to the emotional toll.
Teyana cites Iman’s DUI arrest and his 2022 incident where he was arrested for possession of marijuana at an airport as evidence that Iman was involved in multiple cheating scandals during their marriage. In addition, she claims that Iman crashed her Rolls Royce and took off running to avoid getting arrested for DUI again.
She claims that even though she tried to support him through hardships, Iman reacted cruelly and self-centeredly. Teyana claims that after filing for divorce covertly, Iman encouraged them to get back together but was inconsistent and involved in another cheating scandal, which she found dehumanizing and embarrassing.
Iman allegedly left their family home in October and hasn’t been spending much time with their two kids ever since, according to Teyana. She is requesting joint legal custody, child support, and primary physical custody, both temporary and permanent.
