Texas Food Influencer Michael Duarte Shot and Killed by Police

Food influencer Michael Duarte was fatally shot by law enforcement in Castroville, Texas, after allegedly threatening officers and others, according to new information from the Medina County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say deputies responded to a 911 call on November 8 reporting a disturbance involving a man acting erratically and armed with a knife. When deputies arrived, they found Duarte behaving aggressively as paramedics were already on-site.

Officials report that Duarte approached one of the deputies in a threatening manner. Despite being given multiple verbal commands to drop the weapon and get on the ground, Duarte allegedly charged toward the deputy while shouting, “I’m going to kill you.”

In response, the deputy fired two shots, striking Duarte. Deputies and medics immediately provided medical assistance before Duarte was transported to University Hospital in San Antonio, where he later died from his injuries.
