Terry Crews Praises Wife for Gracefully Handling Biracial Criticism
Terry Crews spoke highly of his wife, Rebecca King-Crews, for her resilience in facing criticism about her mixed-race background. He shared with Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay that Rebecca, raised in a Black household in Gary, Indiana, identifies strongly as Black despite having a white father. Crews emphasized how Rebecca was deeply connected to Black culture while growing up in a predominantly Black city.
Reflecting on their 40-year journey together, Crews revealed to Sharpe that they have grown accustomed to handling life’s challenges, including ongoing drama. He commended Rebecca for her calm and peaceful demeanor, especially when confronted with racial issues.
The couple first met during Crews’ college years, and despite various obstacles, they have enjoyed a happy marriage since 1989. Together, they have raised five children and welcomed a grandchild into their family. Crews also opened up about a troubling incident involving his father and mother, where he was informed about his father hitting his mother over the phone.

Crews described this event as one of the darkest moments in his life, emphasizing his emotional response as a grown man and former NFL player. He expressed his frustration, highlighting the disparity between his mature age and the serious nature of the situation.
“That was the worst day,” Crews explained. “You need to know what happened: my dad had just hit my mom. I wasn’t there, but I got a call saying, ‘Your dad hit your mom.’ I’m a grown man, after my NFL career, not a little kid. I was upset.”
