Sean Penn, a veteran of the Hollywood industry, was visibly agitated as he spoke about the well-publicized confrontation between Will Smith and Chris Rock at the 2022 Academy Awards.
In a recent interview with Variety, Sean Penn was blunt in his criticism of Smith for the on-stage slap he delivered during the event to comedian Chris Rock.
Shortly after this unfortunate event, Smith miraculously went on to win the renowned Best Actor award for his role in “King Richard,” making a moving and genuine acceptance speech. Smith attended a number of afterparties following the ceremony to continue the celebration of his well-earned victory.
Smith has been banned from attending the Oscars and taking part in Academy committee events for ten years.

“I don’t know Will Smith. I met him once. He seemed very nice when I met him. He was so f—ing good in King Richard,”
“So why the f— did you just spit on yourself and everybody else with this stupid f—ing thing? Why did I go to f—ing jail for what you just did? And you’re still sitting there? Why are you guys standing and applauding his worst moment as a person?”
Smith violently entered the stage at the 2022 Oscars and slapped Rock in the face. The comic made a joke about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, who bravely fights alopecia, a disorder that causes hair loss, which led to the confrontation.
