Rising jazz star Samara Joy, 24, hailed by The New York Times for “helping jazz take a youthful turn,” and praised by NPR as a “classic jazz singer from a new generation,” is set to make her Penn State debut. The three-time Grammy Award winner will perform her third annual “A Joyful Holiday” show, accompanied by the McLendon Family.
The festive concert will feature a blend of sacred and secular holiday classics, including tracks from her 2023 EP A Joyful Holiday (Verve Records), as well as gospel-inspired seasonal favorites, showcasing her soulful voice and timeless style, drawing comparisons to legends Sarah Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, and Billie Holiday.
