Rip Micheals Shares Heartbreak from Wife’s Actions During Hospitalization for Heart Attack
Comedian Rip Micheals, aged 41, revealed that his wife left him while he was recovering from a severe heart attack, sharing the news during an interview on the “Way Up With Angela Yee” podcast. Despite forming a close bond with his daughter during his hospital stay, his two-year marriage to Veronica came to an end.
“My wife left me while I was in the hospital,” he told Yee. “I guess when it says, ’til death do us part,’ she’s a go-getter. She don’t like to procrastinate. So she was out.” He joked, “I guess when it said I was in ICU, she was like, ‘I see you later.'”
Nevertheless, the experience taught him a valuable lesson. “You know what it does? It lets you know that certain people can’t handle things and certain people are supposed to be with you for certain parts of your life,” Micheals said. Reflecting on his time in the hospital, he admitted, “I realized that it was hard to cope with because, honestly, when I was sitting there and I went from just right regular hospital bed to CCU and had the non-stop doctors about me, I really thought it was over.”

Grateful for the support from his fans, family, and close friends, Micheals acknowledged that their prayers and well-wishes reminded him that he still had much to live for. Now recovered, he is set to host the “April Fools Comedy Jam” at Barclays Center on Friday night, featuring DL Hughley, Tracy Morgan, Loni Love, and others.
