Rapper Supa Emcee Arrested for Killing His Wife
Michigan-born rapper Supa Emcee, also known as Jimmie Lee Brown, has found himself entangled in a tragic incident as he was arrested in connection with the death of his wife, Kelly Ann Mays, aged 49.
The distressing event unfolded when Mays was discovered fatally stabbed at a Westland, Michigan apartment complex around 6 p.m. on January 7. Brown took immediate responsibility for the situation, turning himself in to the Westland Police Department, and now faces accusations of being involved in the stabbing.
Reports from TMZ suggest that an alleged argument occurred at Brown and Mays’ Detroit apartment during their 13-year-long relationship. The rapper, famous for his role in “8 Mile,” has been charged with first-degree murder since January 10 and is currently in police custody, as detailed by Click on Detroit.
Adding a layer of complexity to this tragic narrative, Brown has been dealing with the aftermath of a near-fatal collision in 2020, resulting in a serious brain injury. Despite this adversity, he has been working on recuperating and rebuilding his life and career.
On the other side of this devastating incident, Kelly Ann Mays emerges as more than a victim. She was not only a survivor of domestic violence but also an activist dedicated to making a difference. Mays channeled her energy into educating and assisting others facing violence at home.

Talking to The Detroit News in July, Mays shared about a harmful relationship in 2010 that led to her being hospitalized on her younger daughter’s first birthday. At the time, her 13-year-old daughter, Celeste, pleaded with her to leave the abuser.
“In my head, as a Black woman, I have to make it work. I have to make things work with my Black man,” Mays told the outlet at the time.
“‘Mom, I can’t, I can’t do this,” the mother of two recalled her older daughter saying. “‘I can’t be in this space with you watching you struggle and suffering. … Or, you can just call it quits.’”
“I chose my baby,” Mays said, “and I ended it, and I left.”
