Max Payne actor James McCaffrey dies aged 65

Actor James McCaffrey, best known for playing video game character Max Payne, passed away from cancer. A spokesman for McCaffrey reportedly told TMZ that the actor passed away on Sunday while surrounded by his loved ones. He had been fighting multiple myeloma, but sadly, the illness had overcome him.

McCaffrey trained at the Actor’s Studio and went on to have a successful 35-year career in TV and film. Even though he enjoyed developing characters, his good looks frequently drew him into leading man parts. The first post containing a picture of McCaffrey and “Entourage” star Kevin Dillon caused news of McCaffrey’s passing to circulate.

McCaffrey is best known as the voice of ‘Max Payne’ in the video game series, but his career extended to TV with notable roles in “Rescue Me,” where he played Jimmy Keefe for 56 episodes, as well as appearances in shows like “Revenge,” “Beautiful People,” “Law & Order: SVU,” “As the World Turns,” “Swift Justice,” “Civil Wars,” “Canterbury’s Law,” “Suits,” “Blue Bloods,” “Bluff City Law,” “She’s Gotta Have It,” and more.
