It appears that Kanye West is once again caught up in a legal dispute! Recent reports suggest that the controversial rapper has been sued by photographer Michaela Efford. She alleges that the fashion mogul utilized her photograph without compensating her or obtaining permission.
According to TMZ, Efford captured a photo of Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, a fashion writer and contributing editor for Vogue. Kanye West then reposted this image on Instagram, intending to mock her choice of attire.
This conflict between West and Karefa-Johnson began last year during a series of incidents involving West’s offensive remarks, some of which were anti-Semitic. Following Karefa-Johnson’s criticism of his “White Lives Matter” shirt as “dangerous” and “irresponsible,” the rapper targeted the Vogue editor.
In the legal documents acquired by TMZ, the photographer asserted that she captured the photograph of Karefa-Johnson in September 2022. West subsequently shared it on his Instagram account merely a week later. This occurred during a period marked by numerous offensive displays from West, which were widely perceived as racist.
Efford claims that West’s unauthorized posting of her photo has negatively impacted her ability to monetize and profit from the image. As a result, she is pursuing unspecified damages in her legal action.
Furthermore, West’s numerous anti-Semitic remarks have had significant consequences for his business ventures. His partnerships with Gap and Balenciaga, which were highly lucrative, were canceled due to the controversy surrounding his statements. Additionally, his Yeezy deal with Adidas came to an abrupt end as a result.
