Johnny Depp new movie Jeanne du Barry UK release date announced
Johnny Depp, currently directing “Modi” with Al Pacino, also has upcoming films set for release in the UK and Ireland, including “Jeanne du Barry,” which opened the Cannes Film Festival last Spring and achieved box office success in mainland Europe.
The film’s official synopsis reads: “Jeanne du Barry follows Jeanne Vaubernier (Maïwenn), a woman born into poverty who uses her intellect and charms to climb the social ladder, rising to the opulent court of King Louis XV of France (Johnny Depp).
“On her official introduction to the King, their attraction is irresistible and Jeanne becomes his favourite courtesan, reigniting his appetite for life.
“The two fall madly in love and against all convention, Jeanne moves into the Palace of Versailles as scandal and revolution ensue. Starring Johnny Depp, with Maïwenn, who also directs and co-writes.”
“Jeanne du Barry,” a French-language film featuring Johnny Depp speaking in the Parisian dialect, portrays the monarch he plays who reigned over France from 1715 to 1774.

The longest-reigning king, Louis XIV, was succeeded by his great-grandfather, King Louis XV, also referred to as “The Beloved,” when he was five years old.
The French treasury was depleted during his reign due to his costly wars and corruption. Louis XVI, his grandson, who was put to death by guillotine during the French Revolution, succeeded him. On April 19, 2024, “Jeanne Du Barry” will be shown in theaters in the UK and Ireland.
