Ed needed Jamie Foxx’s support during a difficult performance, and few people were aware of their friendship prior to 2017.
Jamie Foxx met Ed Sheeran when Ed brought his music to Jamie’s radio show, Foxxhole. This happened years before Ed became famous. Ed was working hard to get noticed, giving out demos and talking to radio stations in Los Angeles. He didn’t expect that meeting Jamie Foxx would completely change his life, but it did.
Jamie Foxx listened to Ed’s demo and liked it. He noticed that Ed seemed to be struggling. Impressed by Ed’s talent, Jamie invited him to stay at his house to help him get noticed in the music industry. Ed agreed and spent the next six weeks at Jamie’s house, working on his songs in Jamie’s personal studio.

Years before Ed Sheeran won a court battle for his music, he performed on stage for Jamie Foxx and his friends. Jamie had invited him after they met, and the previous performers were all Black artists. When Jamie introduced Ed, some people in the audience were not happy because Ed was not Black like the previous performers.
Although Jamie Foxx was aware that his friends might be taken aback, he still thought Ed Sheeran had talent. He begged them to give Ed an opportunity. Within twelve seconds of Ed’s performance, the audience was so enthralled that they gave him a standing ovation.
