Jamie Foxx promises to Address Medical Scare
Nearly a year after his medical emergency on April 11, 2023, while filming “Back in Action” in Atlanta, Jamie Foxx is now prepared to discuss the incident. Foxx was presented with the Producers Award for his company Foxxhole Productions at the annual luncheon of the African American Film Critics Association, which honored Black achievement.
The 56-year-old Oscar winner thanked God for getting better after his health scare and urged everyone to treasure life and their loved ones while thinking back on the help he got throughout his trying period.
“Everybody wants to know what happened and I’m gonna tell you what happened but I got to do it in my way,” he added, sharing that he’ll finally discuss his health journey in an upcoming stand-up comedy special.
During an emotional acceptance speech in December at the Critics Choice Association’s Celebration of Cinema & Television: Honoring Black, Latino, and AAPI Achievements in Los Angeles, Foxx discussed his health concern.

He expressed gratitude and mentioned the difficulties he had overcome, as well as his newfound appreciation for life, while accepting the Vanguard Award for his performance in The Burial. As Foxx discussed his experience and the value of savoring each moment, he started to cry.
“I want to thank everybody. I’ve been through something. I’ve been through some things,” Foxx said as he accepted the Vanguard Award for his performance in The Burial . “It’s crazy, I couldn’t do that six months ago. I couldn’t actually walk too….,” he added as he welled up with emotion.
Showing his appreciation for life, Foxx said, “It feels good to be here. I cherish every single minute now. It’s different. It’s different.”
“I wouldn’t wish what I went through on my worst enemy, because it’s tough when you almost… When it’s almost over, when you see the tunnel,” he said at the time.
