Jada Pinkett Smith has spoken out about the latest arrest of a suspect in Tupac Shakur’s 1996 murder.
The 52-year-old actress expressed her feelings on Instagram, describing her wish for “closure” following the untimely death of her longtime buddy Shakur. The news of the suspect’s arrest on Friday triggered a flood of emotions for Smith, who had a long and close friendship with the late rapper.
“Now I hope we can get some answers and have some closure,” Smith wrote in response to the arrest. “R.I.P. Pac,” she finished, adding a dove emoji.
According to sources from the Associated Press and ABC News, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department detained Duane “Keffe D” Davis as a suspect in the death of Tupac Shakur, who was killed by gunfire on September 13, 1996. This arrest represents a huge breakthrough in the cold case, which has gone unresolved for the past 27 years.

According to the Associated Press, Davis was apprehended on Friday morning. He is charged with murder with a gang enhancement. During a news conference on Friday, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department named him as the “on-ground, on-site commander” who gave the order for Shakur’s untimely death, according to the Associated news.
Tupac Shakur was shot four times while seated in a car en route to a Las Vegas nightclub on September 7, 1996. He died six days later, on September 13, from his injuries. Despite extensive conjecture about his death, the investigation swiftly went cold, leaving many unsolved issues.
