Jada Pinkett Smith mocked on Saturday Night Live
Saturday Night Live mocked Jada Pinkett Smith’s new memoir, “Worthy,” which has received a lot of attention. Michael Che interviewed Ego Nwodim, who played Jada, in a Weekend Update segment, and they joked about the surprising details in her book about her relationship with Will Smith.
“The day we got married, I knew there was going to be trouble. At our wedding, someone stood up and objected,” Nwodim said as Pinkett Smith.
When asked Nwodim who that person was, she joked, “It was me. Yeah, it was me.”
The comedian kept teasing the couple’s long marriage and the actress’ habit of sharing too much about their relationship, saying they’ve figured out the secret to a successful marriage
“23 years later, Will and I are still a unit. And it’s because we have learned that the secret to a successful marriage is never go to bed happy,” Nwodim, 35, said.
The actress pretended to be Pinkett Smith and talked about her separation from Smith, saying they won’t get divorced because of her principles. She also made jokes about the Oscars incident, saying it brought them closer.
If we got divorced, he could mess around and end up happy. And I can’t have that.”
They even discussed the well-known 2022 Oscars slap, with Nwodim joking that it added excitement to their marriage.
“It was the first time in years that I felt like his wife. And now I am so clear on what to do if we ever start drifting apart again,” she said to Che, 40. “The next time we hit a rough patch, I’m going to ask Will to shoot Kevin Hart.”

During the show, they talked about Smith joining Pinkett Smith on her press tour. He mentioned that their relationship has been both tough and wonderful, describing it as a mix of brutality and beauty. He also called their marriage a messy public test of unconditional love.
“We have had a very, very long and tumultuous [relationship]. We call it ‘brutiful.’ It was brutal and beautiful at the same time,” the actor, 55, said on stage in Baltimore last week, adding that their marriage was a “sloppy public experiment in unconditional love.”
Nwodim made a joke that some people call their marriage “brunhealthy,” meaning it’s both brutal and unhealthy.
People have criticized Pinkett Smith for being very open, and some say the book is just a way to make money.
